Returned from England.
Perhaps it took me a transatlantic holiday to become truly depressed by classes. In truth, I love my classes, but its summer, and the sun is only out for so many hours a day…
England was amazing. So green, so alive, so vibrant and buzzing with people from all over the globe. London is the nexus of the English-speaking world; Canadians, Irish, English, Australian and American all flock to see the sights and feel the flavour of the streets of London. An aura unfamiliar to most American cities, London beams its energy to every passing spirit who tread down the stone paths year after year. Even New York, which will always be sacred to me for a whole boatload of reasons, doesn’t give this vibe. Even with all the people rushing about, England doesn’t seem to have the same manic obsession with time that we have here. Maybe people just cant afford not to be friendly. It rains everyday, if people were mean, it would simply be the most dismal place on the globe. That honour now falls on Philadelphia.
I love summer, but only after a hard-earned winter. I could never take myself seriously if I lived in a resort climate like Florida….
