Big Brother 7 Finale

So as you may or may not know, I have been fiending the UK Big Brother 7 this entire Summer, and with the finale this past Friday, I feel a strange sense of emptiness. Oh God, I’m pathetic.

This photo says it all:

Honestly though, I really do enjoy the show. Its hilarious. Period. (end of!). I equate watching BB to having a ‘very strange aquarium’ where I can sit there for hours and watch, but at the end of the day, its not that big a deal.

I think the best part of BB is that when you run into someone else who is into it, you laugh your collective asses of talking about it. When I was in London, I got to catch up in real time with the show, and when I met someone else following it, we had a jolly good time doing impressions and speculating on the outcome.

So, until next year, “Big Brother will get back to you!”

My Big Fat Rican Wedding

My elder cousin Richie, from the Bronx, got married. The wedding was a bid crazy romp through trans-Caribbean culture. His wife, Carla, is from Trinidad (or Tobago, not sure), and her family was definitely out in larger force then us brown-skins.

So, let’s do a hi-lo:
Hi: The kids, dressed in white-ties and mini-brides dresses.
Lo: Laminated Maps on the Church wall. Not exactly St. Paul’s.

A Video is worth 1000 Pics

Here’s a taste of what’s to come regarding the past weekend camping. I plan to upload the photos soon – although I will back-date them so make sure you check the Archives for camping photos…

Camping 2006 (day three)

Leaving so soon? Yup. Pack it up, strap it on, and back down hill. What I found most notable was how hot it got as soon as we dropped that little bit of altitude. The trail is not that steep, but apparently that’s all it takes.

Is it 2007 yet?

Camping 2006 (day two)

A Saturday in the woods. No mountain climbing, just tomfoolery.

Chainsaws, campfires, rice & beans. All in a day’s work.

(I will add some more later.)

Camping 2006 (day one)

Our camping trip kicked off with a loud deafening silence. Traffic. Nothing makes a Friday afternoon like sitting in a car doing absolutely nothing for several hours.

Tired and delerious, we arrived at the campsite around 11:00 pm. Just in time for a brisk little 2-point-something mile hike in the dark. Uphill.

Two NyQuil and I was down for the count.

Summer Sandwiches

Sandwiches and live music in a Maplewood back yard. In this case, Joaquin’s back yard.

Rogoff and Charlie came through, and a game of beer pong inevitably broke out. Oh children, when will we grow up?

Pottercast NYC

A hectic lunch hour, on the hottest day of the year, but eventful. Ran down to Union Square to the Barnes and NOble to hear the Pottercast/Mugglecast joint podcast. Timed to coincide with JK Rowling’s appearances at Radio City Music Hall, the podcast was the culminating event in a series of on-the-road podcasts and conventions.

In retrospect, it wasn’t a very good idea to arrive late for the start of the podcast. Next time, if I am limited to my lunch hour (don’t get me started), I’ll time it to coincide with the end of the ‘cast, so that way I could have had the chance to chat for a bit with some of the players and geeks. However, I suspect there will be a next time.
