WallStrip Party

Wallstrip is a daily video podcast. The host, Lindsay Campbell was on a recent episode of twentyhood. They had a party to celebrate their 100th episode. I was there.

And so to Bond St., one of those lesser-known streets in New York right in the middle of all the action. A very strange venue as well. Not sure if the photos capture the randomness of the situation. But gotta love those 12-foot windows.

PS. I find it ironic that a ladies’ restroom converted into a newstand exists in the first place, but also sells lots of porno mags. Makes the Women sign that much more appropriate.

I love seeing the Beaver in New York. A symbol of the City since it was New Amsterdam, the beaver is in fact featured on the Seal of the City of New York and has recently returned in real life to build a lodge on the Bronx River. Now if only selling pelts could fund free health care for all residents.

A View of NYC in Spring

Here are a few random shots I took while we were out in the Park for lunch. Also, some overhead and street-level looks at those pre-construction spraypaint deals. And of course defaced subway posters and Microsoft packaging. Yes, this is what I do.

The State of Me

In the mode of my college days, when I would record these journal-like entries on a slightly-more-frequently-than-seasonal basis, here comes a bit of relfexion and thought on the state of things.

First things first. As you have no doubt noticed, I have become pretty active on my various blogs. At this point, I’ve got three up and running and I’m adding content to them multiple times a week. It’s nice to have all the content segregated by relevance in a very “lid for every pot” way. But what’s lacking from all three blogs is some quantity of original content, like this which I am writing at this very moment. Clearly, I have opinions on stuff — from design, to money, to life in the City, and being a twentysomething. Yet I don’t express it as much as I should. Nearly every article I read about promoting your blog/podcast says, very close to the top of the list, post often and consistently. That’s a challenge in and of itself, but making the content original and unique is just as much of a challenge, if not moreso.

St. Patrick’s Day in Midtown

Another holiday that is terrible to endure if you don’t drink, as I don’t.

The snow might have slowed us down, but didn’t stop us entirely. On Bonetti’s invitation, I found myself at Connelly’s on 45th St. for St. Patrick’s Day merriment. And by that I mean drunkenness on an industrial scale. It’s one thing to go out drinking, but it’s another to be a friggin animal! Yes, I’ve been to University, and yes, I’ve been to Hoboken, but somehow I didn’t expect this. At least I’ll be prepared for the calamity next year.

Eventually we wondered through the cold to Third and Long, where we watched Pittsburgh advance in the Tournament. Mischa turned up as I was on my way out. We gotta stop meeting like this. (in bars surrounded by the drunk and Irish)
