Rooftop Camping

I didn’t go camping this weekend with the fellas. It had a lot do with logistics — traveling to Maplewood, running, etc. But I did attend Jessica’s Oktoberfest, which took place on her Hoboken rooftop deck.

Considering how we sat around a campfire eating s’mores and drinking, it felt an awful lot like camping. Not the usual rabble, but a fun night of low-impact conversation and laughter. Good times.

Up On The Roof

And so on this sunny day, I will depart for Hoboken, which is an old Algonquin word meaning “Land of Red Cups”.

Jessica and her flatmates hosted us on their brilliant rooftop deck for yet another BBQ this summer. Pretty standard, really. The whole “who wants a burger” thing was in full effect, as was the beer pong. *sigh*

All in all a pleasant afternoon — not too hot, none were too drunk, and so forth. And in typical Hoboken fashion, the day was speckled with lots of pretty girls, many of whom were smoking, all of whom wanted nothing to do with me.

Everybody hates February

Jessica decided a few weeks ago that we ‘needed’ to have a dinner party to try and cope with the fact that everyone hates February. Because of the timing, the night turned out to be a bit more celebratory and for Jessica it marked her finding a new job. Either way, it was a night in.

I called up Ariel, who I hadn’t seen in quite some time, and we headed over to Hoboken to meet with Laura and Alicia and Jess and eat some home-cooked food. And dessert. Lots of dessert.

I made rice and beans, of course.

Another Year

This year, New Year’s Eve was not spent in New Brunswick, but rather in Hoboken, at Jessica’s place. Mike and Phil came as well, providing some excellent humourous background noise for what was, in many ways, a strange night. But highly amusing. Highly.
