BBQ at Cotton’s

I imagine it must be very lusty indeed to have a private garden in Jersey City. Impromptu BBQs wouldn’t seem at all out of ordinary. In fact, I’d be grilling every night. The patio is really just an extension of the kitchen, no?

I allowed myself a bit of humour in watching Kendra, Hannah, and Cotton try to light the Grill and get the coals going. Eventually, they got things, um, cooking. Those Ivy League heads are good for something, it seems.

And no, we didn’t start Ali on a life of drinking. I imagine she’ll figure that one out all on her own when she starts Uni in a few months time. We did, however, give her a healthy [over]dose of twentysomething urban depression. I can’t help being a DUPPIE.

The New JC Watering Hole

Jersey City, in spite of the economic what’s-it-called, is an up-and-coming city. Especially for people with jobs who like to buy houses and that. So it was only a matter of time before we had our own Biergarten.

And so we wandered over for the opening of what is sure to be one of JC’s most patronised drinking spots. Picnic tables are great for summer, although there’s still plenty of room inside. These folks are still working out a few quirks in service and facilities.

As expected, the attendance in this particular night was more of the, um, Hoboken set. Everyone and his brother was there. At least from our scrappy rabble. All these years later and I’m still the sober guy with the camera.

BBQ at Cotton’s

Or, “A Tree Grows in Jersey City”

Our dear old friend Cotton recently moved into a new garden apartment that features, among other things, exclusive access to a relatively huge backyard right smack in the middle of Jersey City. Who knew these old brownstones actually oversaw semi-private yards? In her case, a large stone wall shields her from the other neighbors and with the trees growing from atop said wall, a sort of canopy effect is created. So in other words, it’s a good place to BBQ.

Since she had only moved in the previous week, we didn’t expect Cotton’s kitchen to be outfitted with all the BBQ brickerbrack, and it wasn’t, but we did alright in the end.

Oh, by the way, it’s Summer! Moreless.

Snow in Jersey City

Long story short, I now live in Jersey City. With Kendra. Like, whoa.

And although it’s March, it snows. Outside my window, I can see the world covered in that icy whiteness. I think I’ll stay in today.

Later, Kendra and I slushed our way to Ian’s place where he made us Dirt, a pudding/Oreo/cool whip creation topped with Gummi Worms. Excellent.
