Bridget and the Squares

At the Pine Box Theatre, I think it's called, in Bushwick. The place was lousy with hipsters, as expected.

Wires wires everywhere. Skipping the borderline health hazard, we definitely need a better solution for this insanity

Pancakes for dinner. Bachelor living.

Pancakes for dinner. Bachelor living.

Pancake Tuesday, a tradition that most of the English-speaking world abides by but somehow evaded Yankee culture for these many centuries. I guess we were to distracted by Mardi Gras, which is generally borrowed from Catholic cultures, whereas Britain's Protestant ideals are less shimmery by comparison.

I'll take my PhD now.

Men with tools

Men with tools

Pictured here is Charlie at NYC Resistor, the common workspace for geeks and hackers, where obscure tools of every kind can be found. I actually forget what this is, but I know that Charlie put a digital readout on it for more precise control.

Not pictured, but worth noting, is the amazing Brooklyn loft/studio in which all these tools are housed. It's like a movie set where young people who have no business affording such a spacious apartment are living. Arched windows, exposed brick, stairs to nowhere, tons of square footage. I think it is my new goal to find a not-quite-designed-for-residential-living space and set up there.

With Sally Hogshead

With Sally Hogshead

In New York for long-overdue meeting with my long-time design hero, and current client, Sally Hogshead. The setting is Le Parker Meridien hotel in midtown, which is jammed with quirky architectural bits and bobs. Pictured here, random cathedral arches.

Are you awake? More importantly, where's my breakfast?!

The feline alarm clock never fails. Although I have to admit, Ninja was better at waking me up. She'd proceed to lick my fingers, and the bits in between, until I would awake and feed her. She was determined.

How indoor cats satisfy the desire to be stuck in trees.

How indoor cats satisfy the desire to be stuck in trees.

The backstory for this photo is quite endearing, actually. You see, Prudence is still in her first year and thus is always hungry. Not to be the villain, but I try to limit her meals to actual mealtimes, and not let her snack away all day. Recently, I spotted her on top of the fridge, poking around for food. She jumped first on the table, then onto the microwave, and then onto the fridge. You see, that's where I had been storing the dry food which I give her as a treat.

She waits

She waits

Prudence likes to jump on my desk and poke her face in my biz. Mainly, she does this when she's hungry, which is pretty much all the time. Somehow, I got her to look at the camera and remain still enough to snap this shot.

Mrow.

Supermarket circular as wrapping paper

Supermarket circular as wrapping paper

I use whatever's around. I mean, tell me wrapping paper isn't the biggest waste of money — it's only going to be ripped to shreds anyway.
