Joaquin Plays Piano

We braved the snow of Brooklyn to see Joaquin play the piano and entertain us during the brunch hour at the Manhattan Inn in Greenpoint. That about sums it up.

This being a recurring gig for Joaquin, it is most probable that I will find myself back there on weekend mornings, in spite of the terrible service and lack of skim milk.

Batman is an Orphan

Today I was invited by my design buddy Jessi Arrington to head out to Touro College in Brooklyn and chat with some design students about the industry. Being ever the fiery designer, I tried to ignite some passion by introducing some of the hot debates in our field at the moment. Dunno how well I did because only one student tried to engage me after the talk, and I think only a single other emailed me.

Here’s a few photos Jessi took. Maybe one day I’ll post my presentation and try to clean up the audio and maybe even match the two.

A Car Hit Our Building

That’s not a reference to some 19th century novel, a car actually hit our building. It jumped the curb and smashed into the wall right outside my window. In fact, it cracked Chris’s window and broke some of the concrete work on the outside.

The fire and police showed up in force and I, of course, took some pictures. It was after all a freak incident — just lucky no one was on the street at the time. Also, if the car had been a Mack truck, we’d likely be picking chrome out of our teeth at the mo.
